UNILORIN BETTER THAN NIGERIA

UNILORIN BETTER THAN NIGERIA

Nigeria is a great nation and yesterday's election has proven that the destiny of Nigeria is in the hands of Nigerians. Many people prophesied doom for this country but what I am seeing is a happy people who went out and exercised their civic right. So far, the election is free and fair. After taking a close look at the election process, I can say that the future is bright because how Unilorin conducts election  is better by far to Nigeria.

The results will be announced too late; 48 hours after election is unacceptable. I like my school where election results are released some hours after election because its done online. The amount of time between election and results is long enough for manipulation. It's even long enough encourage the supporters of the loser to find reasons to reject the results and cause violence.

Accreditation issues could be minimized and possibly avoided if the election is online. Nigerians stood on long queues yesterday patiently absorbing the hot sun and rain (Lagos) just to ensure that their choice for change or transformation is made. In Unilorin, we vote at home, in bed, on the bus, at your own comfort.

Whoever wins this election should borrow a leaf from Unilorin and graduate to online voting in future elections. America votes online, Unilorin votes online, why not Nigeria?

If you were there at the final day of the SU sports festival match between Education and Physical Science, you will know that its not easy to organize a sporting event anywhere in the world. To control the passion of the fans who will want to step on the pitch after every whistle claiming 'ojoro'. Ko easy. I want to say kudos to BJ the sports director at SU and all the personalities behind the success of the event.

That brings me to the choice of who should be the sports personality of the week. A man who abandoned his position as the captain of the faculty football team in order to chair the committee planning the event so that the competition will be a total success as it is.

Adams Jesse Odoba Yacham

Currently, Jezil is The University of Ilorin football team captain, Team Education Captain, Team Hke Captain and Hke class of 2015 Captain.

In Jezil's words 'I'm gentle and easy going but could as well be one of the most interesting people you'll be glad to have met' its true. He believes that "There will come a time in your life where you will have to grab the bull by its tail then face the consequences".

Jezil's hobbies include fishing, hunting, cooking, reading, playing and watching  football and making friends.

Adams Jesse has many medals in  sports. He is a 3 times Unilorin SU cup Champion. He is an
